Notice: Miranda Literary Magazine will publish its first issue January 2027. We will open submission in November and we will be using Submittable. Articles, essays and other writing opportunities will be added to these gudielines soon.
Miranda Literary Magazine welcomes submissions of long-form prose from emerging and established writers whose work showcases strong storytelling, engaging characters, and memorable narratives.
What We’re Looking For
- Prose manuscripts generally between 50–150 pages in length (novellas, novel excerpts, or other long-form fiction).
- Fiction with compelling characters, an immersive voice, and a story that pushes beyond the normal length and scope of literary fiction.
- Work that is already carefully revised and free of significant errors, typos, and grammatical issues.
Miranda Literary Magazine dedicated to the concept that longer, focused prose is still needed in the world. We want to publish engaging, long reads for people who value novels, novellas, and the concepts behind complexity and creative writing.
Submission Materials
Please submit the following:
- A brief synopsis of the full work (typically 1–2 pages) describing the main characters, central conflict, and overall arc. Include the ending for a comprehensive evalutation.
- The first 15 pages of your manuscript, formatted in a readable font and double-spaced.
- Your contact information can be on the materials.
Submissions that do not include the following three elements may be removed from consideration.
Rights and Publication
By submitting to Miranda Literary Magazine, you agree to the following terms if your work is accepted:
- Miranda Literary Magazine receives one-time usage rights for:
- Online publication of your work.
- Inclusion in our digital archive (you can opt out).
- Inclusion in our annual print volume featuring that year’s selected stories (you can opt out).
- All rights revert to the writer after publication, and you retain full ownership of your work.
You are free to publish the work elsewhere after it appears with us, though we appreciate a credit to Miranda Literary Magazine as the original publisher.
Editorial Process
- Initial review is based on your synopsis and the first 15 pages.
- If editors are interested in seeing more, you will be invited to submit the remainder of your manuscript.
- Longer manuscripts are then read and considered by additional editors, and selections are made every other month.
Response times may vary based on volume. Writers whose full manuscripts are requested can expect decisions aligned with our bi-monthly review cycle.
